Luvlybubbly Product Safety & Ingredients

Luvlybubbly Product Safety & Ingredients Guide

Welcome Parents! 👋

Your child has brought home something special that they made at a Luvlybubbly party or workshop. Each product has a QR code on the packaging that says "Please scan before use" - that's what brought you to this page.

📋 What You Need to Do:

  1. 1. Scroll down to find the product your child has made

  2. 2. Read the instructions carefully before use

  3. 3. Check the full ingredient list for any known allergies

  4. 4. Complete a patch test 24 hours before first use (see How to Patch Test)

You'll find complete information for each product including:

  • 1. Full ingredient list

  • 2. Step-by-step usage instructions

  • 3. Important safety warnings

  • When NOT to use the product

⚠️ Important: Do Not Use If Your Child Has Sensitivities

Before using any product, check if your child has known sensitivities or allergies to:

  • - Sodium Bicarbonate (baking soda)

  • - Citric Acid

  • - Essential oils (citrus oils in particular)

  • - Any other ingredients listed

If your child has sensitivities to any ingredients, DO NOT USE the product.

⚠️ Safety First - Our Priority

On rare occasions, a child may be allergic to a product or its ingredients. Safety is always our number one priority. That is why we want you to have all this information just in case. While reactions are uncommon, we believe it's essential that you:

We would rather you be over-informed than under-prepared when it comes to your child's well-being.

⚠️ Important: Read Before Use

Every cosmetic product can cause skin reactions. Even products made with gentle, natural ingredients may cause irritation. Every child's skin is different, and sensitivity can develop at any time—even if your child has used similar products before without problems.

We strongly recommend patch testing every product before full use. See our Patch Test Guide below.

🛁 Bath Bombs

⚠️ PATCH TEST REQUIRED

Before first use, complete a patch test 24 hours in advance. See How to Patch Test for full instructions.

About Bath Bombs

Our bath bombs are handmade by children during supervised party activities using cosmetic-grade ingredients from reputable UK suppliers. Where stated, we also use essential oils. Some children may still experience sensitivity.

How to Use

Before Bath:

  • Clean bath thoroughly (remove all other products)

  • Fill with warm water (NOT hot)

  • Test the temperature with your elbow, ensuring the bath is not too hot before your child gets in

During Bath:

  • Place bath bomb in water

  • Allow to dissolve completely before child enters

  • Always supervise your child

  • Bath surfaces will be slippery—help child in and out

After Bath:

  • Rinse child's skin thoroughly with clean water

  • Clean bath immediately to remove any residue

  • Pat skin dry gently

  • Apply moisturiser if needed

🛁 Important: Preventing Bath Staining

On very rare occasions, bath bombs or bath sherbet may leave a slight ring around the bath.

To prevent this:

  • Always ensure the bath is completely clean before use

  • Remove all soap residue and hair product buildup

  • Optional: Add bubble bath before placing the bath bomb in the water

  • Wash the bath out immediately after draining the water

Why staining can happen: Stains around the bath usually appear when the tub isn’t fully clean and there’s a buildup of soap, hair products, or other residue. This buildup creates a film on the surface that colourants and dirt can stick to. Keeping the bathtub clean before use makes staining far less likely.

If staining occurs: If you accidentally forget to wash out the tub and the residue isn't wiping away, don't panic:

  • Try white vinegar on a cloth

  • Use isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol

  • Use a small amount of bleach on a cloth (follow bleach safety instructions)

  • Active eczema flare-up

  • Known sensitivity to any ingredients listed above

Important:

  • Not edible—do not eat

  • Avoid contact with eyes

  • If eye contact occurs, rinse gently with clean water

  • Stop use immediately if irritation occurs

  • Always patch test before first use

🧪 Can't Use the Bath Bomb? Try a Science Experiment!

If your child is sensitive to the bath bomb and cannot use it in the bath, don't throw it away! Turn it into a fun learning opportunity.

Teach your child about chemical reactions:

What you'll need:

  • The bath bomb

  • A large bowl or container

  • Warm Water

  • A safe viewing area (kitchen or outdoors is best)

What to do:

  1. Place the bath bomb in the bowl

  2. Pour water over it slowly

  3. Watch together as it fizzes and bubbles!

What's happening: The sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and citric acid react with water to create carbon dioxide gas - that's what makes all those exciting bubbles! This is the same type of reaction that happens in fizzy drinks.

Learning points to discuss:

  • Why does it fizz? (Chemical reaction between acid and base)

  • What are the bubbles made of? (Carbon dioxide gas)

  • Why does it change colour? (The mica dissolves in the water)

  • Can you smell the essential oils as they're released?

This way, your child still gets to enjoy their creation and learn something new about science!

  • Sodium Bicarbonate (baking soda)

  • Citric Acid

  • Cocamidopropyl Betaine (foaming agent)

  • Essential oils (citrus oils)

  • Mica (cosmetic colourant)

Always patch test before first use.

Ingredients (INCI)

  • Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil Expressed OR Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil Expressed

  • Mica (Colour)

Note: The label on your child's product will clearly state whether it is a Bath Bomb or Foaming Bath Bomb.

🧪 Can't Use the Foaming Bath Bomb? Try a Science Experiment!

If your child is sensitive to the bath bomb and cannot use it in the bath, don't throw it away! Turn it into a fun learning opportunity.

Teach your child about chemical reactions:

What you'll need:

  • The foaming bath bomb

  • A large bowl or container

  • Warm Water

  • A safe viewing area (kitchen or outdoors is best)

What to do:

  1. Place the bath bomb in the bowl

  2. Pour water over it slowly

  3. Watch together as it fizzes, bubbles, and foams!

What's happening: The sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and citric acid react with water to create carbon dioxide gas - that's what makes all those exciting bubbles! The Cocamidopropyl Betaine creates the foam on top. This is the same type of reaction that happens in fizzy drinks.

Learning points to discuss:

  • Why does it fizz? (Chemical reaction between acid and base)

  • What are the bubbles made of? (Carbon dioxide gas)

  • Why does it foam? (The foaming agent traps the gas)

  • Why does it change colour? (The mica dissolves in the water)

🔎 How to Patch Test

Why Patch Test?

A patch test helps identify potential allergic reactions or skin sensitivities before your child uses the full product. Even if your child has never had sensitive skin before, reactions can develop at any time.

When to Patch Test

  • 24 hours before first use

  • In a well-lit area so you can see any changes

  • When your child's skin is clean and dry

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Test Sample

  • Bath bombs/bath sherbet: Break off a small piece (about the size of a pea), dissolve it in a teaspoon of warm water

  • Soap/shower smoothie: Wet the product and create a small amount of lather with water

  • Lip balm: Use the product directly as it comes

Step 2: Apply to Test Area

  • Choose a clean, unbroken area of skin on the inner forearm (about 5cm below the elbow crease)

  • For lip balm: Apply to the inner arm on the other side of the elbow instead

  • Apply a small amount (about the size of a 5p coin)

  • Gently rub it in and allow it to dry

  • For bath products, leave a thin layer

Step 3: Cover (Optional)

  • You can cover with a breathable plaster or leave uncovered

  • Make sure your child doesn't scratch, rub, or wash the area

Step 4: Wait and Observe

  • Leave the product on the skin for 24 hours

  • Check the area several times during this period

  • Your child can bathe/shower but should avoid washing the test area

Step 5: Check for Reactions

Look for any of these signs:

  • Redness or pink patches

  • Itching, tingling, or burning sensation

  • Swelling or raised bumps

  • Dry, flaky, or peeling skin

  • Rash or hives

  • Any discomfort or unusual feeling

Step 6: Interpret Results

If NO reaction occurs:

  • The product is likely safe to use

  • However, reactions can still occur with full use, so always supervise

If ANY reaction occurs:

  • Wash the area immediately with clean water

  • Do not use the product

  • Apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser if needed

  • If the reaction is severe or doesn't improve, contact your GP

Important Notes

  • A negative patch test doesn't guarantee complete safety—always supervise use

  • If your child has multiple allergies, eczema, or very sensitive skin, consult your GP before use

  • Some reactions can be delayed and appear after 24-48 hours

  • When in doubt, don't use the product

Even a negative patch test doesn't guarantee there won't be a reaction during full use, so always supervise closely.
